If for any reason water is not flowing adequately through the unit, a thermistor-type temperature sensor detects that overly high water temperature levels have been reached and shuts off the unit. And, it is also equipped with an overheat limiter film wrap designed to detect overheating all around the heat exchanger for fire protection.
