Marathon Water Heater
The Marathon water heater started out as a simple concept, which was to build a water heater that would last a lifetime, and by 1987 Marathon had become an established brand. The idea of building a very durable water heater was based on the success of plastic brine tanks, which had been used for over 30 years in the water softening industry. The goal was to build a water heater that could have a true lifetime warranty, manufacture the most energy efficient water heater available, and keep it “installation friendly” by having it lightweight and easy to connect.
Marathon water heaters are manufactured by Water Heater Innovations, Inc. at a state-of-the-art plant in Eagan, Minnesota. Today, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rheem Manufacturing Company, the world leader in innovative water heating products. Marathon is the sole product of Water Heater Innovations, and they have maintained their original vision by making a water heater with the longest lifespan, best warranty, and highest efficiency available.

They also have Rheem Marathon™ Thermal Storage Tanks, which are specifically designed to provide high efficiency and low operating costs for alternative energy applications; and Rheem Solar Control Module, which brings a solar solution to the Rheem Marathon™ electric water heater line. The Solar Control Module (SCM) is offered as a complete interface between solar collectors and a Marathon tank. The SCM12 combines the pump, digital controller, and heat exchanger into one easy-to-install package.
