Rinnai was founded in 1920 by Hidejiro Naito and Kanekichi Hayashi, who started their business manufacturing and selling pressurized oil cooking stoves. By the early 1930s, the company entered into the gas appliance business, which included cooking stoves, ranges, space heaters, and water heaters. Headquartered in Nagoya, Japan, Rinnai has 20 branches and 86 sales offices in addition to 6 domestic production facilities. Rinnai is the world’s largest gas appliance manufacturer.

Rinnai has three categories for its tankless water heaters: Value, Luxury, and Ultra. The Value line is ideal for warmer climates and smaller homes. The Value line includes 5.3 GPM gas tankless water heater models V53i (VB2020FFU-US) and V53e (VAM1620W-US).
TheLuxury line is the best-selling product line of Rinnai. It has a higher capacity for medium to large homes and offers more control and a twelve-year warranty. It includes 9.4 GPM gas tankless water heater models R94LSi (VB2735FFUD-US) and R94LSe (VB2735WD-US), and 7.5 GPM gas tankless water heater models R75LSi (VB2528FFUD-US) and R75LSe (VB2528WD-US).
The Ultra line offers ultimate control and efficiency. It operates at a lower minimum flow rate and features ultra efficient condensing technology. Included in this line are 8.0 GPM gas condensing tankless water heater models RC80HPi (KA2530FFUD-US) and RC80HPe (KA2530WD-US); and 9.8 GPM gas condensing tankless water heater models RC98HPe (KA3237WD-US) and RC98HPi (KA3237FFUD-US).
